WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE
Microtia is an uncommon congenital deformity of the ear with absence of some or all parts of the ear and frequently involves absence of an ear canal (atresia) . In most patients with this condition the inner ear is normal but there is a conductive hearing loss where there is reduced transmission of sound to the inner ear because the passage for sound is narrow or absent ( ear canal /middle ear atresia.
Microtia reconstruction is regarded as the most challenging reconstructive problem in plastic surgery and there are only a handful of experts internationally who can achieve good result with this problem so it is important that patients with this problem seek help from a recognised expert in this field.
