Patient Information

This 17 year old patient presented with bilateral lobar microtia and Treacher Collins Syndrome. Both ears were reconstructed with autogenous rib cartilage using a Nagata style method with using the method developed by Mr Greensmith to achieve an elevated ear in one stage without the use of a second stage elevation procedure. This was achieved by the use of new technology in the form of a self inflating osmotic tissue expander to create more skin in the upper pole of the ear in order to accommodate a larger, more projecting framework .
